Sounds Alive was founded by me, Laura, a primary school teacher/early years leader with over 25 years classroom experience. I recognise that parents want to support their children to become succesful readers. This journey can begin before they start school by helping them to develop early language and phonics skills in their preschool year.

Sounds Alive Classes

Through my preschool classes I aim to help parents and children build foundations for becoming succesful readers at school. My classes also equip parents with the knowledge and understanding of early phonics skills, so that they can be effective at supporting their child at the beginning of their reading journey.

Sounds Alive Phonics Classes for preschoolers and parents

In order for children to be able to succeed at reading they need to develop the foundations of phonics.

There are many fundamental skills that need to be in place before children start to recognise letters and then go on to read words.

Through my Sounds Alive classes I aim to help children and parents work together to develop these skills as well as offering a gentle introduction to letter recognition and word reading.

Preschool and nursery sessions

I offer sessions for preschools and nurseries.

Weekly visits to preschools and nurseries enables children to enhance and develop their early phonics and reading skills within their setting, alongside their key workers. Each week they build on skills and these can then be consolidated in the nursery provision.
